Hattie Jane's Creamery

If you live in or have ever visited the southeastern United States in the summer, you know it's HOT! My husband and I try to find new places that offer a relief from the heat in the form of cool, refreshing drinks.  We headed south to Columbia, Tennessee for the day and spent time on the square looking through some of my favorite shops.  If you haven't been to Columbia, take an afternoon to check out what it has to offer.

The square was bustling with activity being that the weather was fairly pleasant for June.  The humidity was lower than it has been in days, so people were taking advantage of it while they could. We had passed by Hattie Jane's Creamery (https://hattiejanescreamery.com/) before, but waited until summer to take full advantage of their options.  You can choose from scoops of ice cream, to shakes, to floats, cold brews, cookies, brownies and even ice cream pies! There's also a case in the corner with pints of ice cream in flavors not shown in the main case such as ice cream mixed with Goo Goo clusters (another Tennessee staple!).  As advertised on their website, "everything is made in-house from scratch in small batches to ensure the best possible product — right down to our hot fudge & caramel sauces and waffle cones." Their motto is "ice cream makes you happy" and it sure did!

My husband chose two scoops of their Strawberries and Cream which consisted of local strawberries and cream cheese swirled together.  He loved it, of course. I went with their Mulekick flavored shake which consisted of their coffee flavored ice cream steeped with Muletown Roasted Coffee beans (https://muletowncoffee.com/) which can be found on the square, as well.  They mixed in some of their homemade hot fudge sauce which made for the PERFECT combination of coffee and warm chocolate.  This is officially my new favorite drink, hands down.  I also loved the setting of Hattie Jane's.  There are four locations that you can find their delicious ice cream, but I think the Columbia location has the most character.  They use old tin canisters for their light fixtures and a beautiful wooden backdrop with stained glass touches to display their menu.

Head down to Columbia, Tennessee this summer and cool off with Hattie Jane's Creamery.  You'll get that small town feel you've been looking for as soon as you step in the door with all the delicious flavors of Tennessee in each bite.
