Just across the Tennessee state line in Corinth, Mississippi, is a restaurant like few others. Like my beloved chicken salad, not all pizzas are created equal. There's definitely good pizza and bad pizza out there. Pizza Grocery (http://www.pizzagrocery.com/) is not just good pizza, it's exceptional everything. A friend from Alabama told me about this restaurant they stop at every year to get food while visiting family. My husband and I stopped several years ago and gave it try. We are now forever hooked. I want to share my most recent visit with you so that you can decide for yourself whether or not it's worth the drive.
Corinth, Mississippi has Civil War history and outstanding food. If you go for the history, you'll already be right down the road from Pizza Grocery. They have two sets of open and close times during the day, so keep an eye on that when you t0 avoid the disappointment of a locked door. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on their food. The first thing that strikes you upon entering is the unique design of the building. It's a split level restaurant with a coffee shop offering brews and gelato on the top floor and the kitchen below. I recommend the toasted ravioli appetizer. The large portions of beef and cheese stuffed pasta will make you wish you'd asked for two orders. My husband and I typically order pizza since that is what they're known for, but everything we've seen brought out to other tables looks amazing. You can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. I chose the "Create Your Own" pizza on our most recent trip and got pesto sauce, ham, and cheese. One of my favorite things about their pizza is the crust. Its fluffy, soft consistency is perfect for dipping in that leftover marinara sauce from your ravioli. They make their pizzas in all sizes from 6" to 16" which caters to individuals to large parties. Their desserts are as delicious as their main dishes, so definitely save room for one. My favorite is their tiramisu. They've managed to blend the perfect combination of flavors without allowing the espresso to become too overpowering. If gelato is more your speed, head over to the coffee shop and choose from a wide selection of flavors. The staff is always friendly and you can't beat the atmosphere of a historic building just minutes away from Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center. If you're a lover of Italian food, photo worthy shots for your social media, historic locations, or just want good pizza... head over to the Pizza Grocery.
