My husband and I are always looking for places to eat that's delicious, but also close to the movie theater. I had heard of Hogwood's (https://hogwood.com/) food truck, but did not realize how close we were to the actual restaurant. This past Friday we decided to check out this local bbq joint and what a find!
The smell of smoked pork hits you as you get out of your vehicle and head toward the door. The décor had a very outdoorsy/nature theme with friendly employees ready to assist. We both ordered a pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, and my husband also ordered baked beans. When we went to the soda fountain to get our drinks, we loved that they use Stubborn Soda, which uses Fair Trade certified cane sugar in their drinks. I highly recommend the root beer! My favorite part of the meal was their pour over mac n cheese. As described on their menu, it's "extra sharp cheddar cheese sauce poured over our shell pasta and garnished with a house-made parmesan cheese crisp." Even the parmesan crisp was outstanding! As we were finishing our meals, an employee came by and asked, "would y'all like a Moon Pie for dessert?" Um, yes...we absolutely would! If you're not from the South, you might not be as familiar with Moon Pies. If you love marshmallow desserts, give them a try. They're a staple in Tennessee.
Overall, I would say that if you're a lover of pork and want a delicious meal, you can't go wrong with Hogwood. I can't wait to find their food truck on the road and have another great meal. We have found our "go-to" spot for our dinner and a movie dates!
